Issue
When you start the Recognize Text Using OCR command,
Right PDF Editor returns the following error: "Right PDF Editor could not perform OCR on this page because it contains renderable text."
or
Gaaiho Doc returns the following error: "Gaaiho Doc could not perform recognition (OCR) on this page because: This page contains renderable text."
Description
Your PDF file may already contains editable text. Renderable text is editable text that exists within the PDF file. Right PDF/ Gaaiho cannot perform OCR on a document that contains renderable text.
Solution
Solution 1: Obtain a version of the document that does not contain renderable (editable) text or delete the rederable contents.
This message appears if the PDF document already contains editable text. Obtain a copy of the document that does not contain editable text or delete them.
Solution 2: Convert the PDF to image file and back to PDF, and then rerun OCR.
- Convert the PDF document to an image file:
Using Right PDF Editor/ Gaaiho Doc:
Open the PDF file with Right PDF Editor/ Gaaiho Doc, select "File" > "Export", choose an image type (eg. JPEG, JPEG PNG, TIFF), and "Save as";
or
Open the PDF file with Right PDF Editor/ Gaaiho Doc, select "File" > "Print", choose "Right PDF/ Gaaiho PDF" printer, check "Print as image" at the bottom of the window, and "OK".
Using Right PDF Converter/ Gaaiho PDF Converter:
Open Right PDF/ Gaaiho PDF Converter, select "Convert from PDF" > "Image", choose an image type (eg. JPEG, JPEG PNG, TIFF), and "Start converting". - Converting image back to PDF file:
Using Right PDF Editor/ Gaaiho Doc:
Open an image file directly with Right PDF Editor/ Gaaiho Doc.
Using Right PDF Converter/ Gaaiho PDF Converter:
Open Right PDF Converter/ Gaaiho PDF Converter, select "Convert to PDF", import the image file, and click "Start Conversion". - Run OCR again on the image PDF file created.
